Scott County Hospital Laboratory is a community based laboratory committed to the mission of “Leading you to a Healthy Future”.   The Laboratory offers a comprehensive test menu and rapid turnaround times.  Tests not performed at Scott County Hospital are transported daily to Quest Laboratory with computer interfacing to provide results as quickly as possible.  Scott County Hospital Laboratory is subject to the standards required by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 and maintains two CLIA licenses; one for the Hospital and one for Scott City Clinic.  The laboratory has completed three two year cycles with no deficiencies.

The Laboratory has a dedicated staff of six Medical Technologist and Medical Laboratory Technicians and one Phlebotomist.  Scott County Hospital has one of the most qualified and experienced staffs in the state of Kansas, with a combined total of 148 years of experience.  Complementing the staff is sophisticated equipment and state of the art technology which ensures each patient will receive quality service with timely and accurate test results.  

Approximately 60 to 80 percent of the decisions made by physicians are based on the results of laboratory tests.  The Laboratory provides excellent customer service for our patients and clients.  Testing is done on outpatients, hospital patients, and Scott City Clinic patients.  We are staffed 5:30 am to 5:30 pm.  Personnel is available on call 5:30 pm to 5:30 am, providing 24 hour service for our community.

The Scott County Hospital Laboratory staff each year provides phlebotomy services for the annual Wellness Fair.  Each employee of the laboratory provides their expertise, and  with the help of a few volunteers, the service is provided in a timely and professional manner for the community at a discounted rate.
